God’s Goats

Kids in Action /

Katerina, age 4, road 45 laps on
training wheels.

Do you like goats? We do! They look funny and can eat almost anything. But even more than goats, we like helping other boys and girls in far away countries who don’t have all the nice things we do. That’s why my friends and I got so excited when our parents told us that we could help ADRA give goats to girls in Niger, Africa. We decided to do it!

Alex, age 7, rounds a curve
during the bike-a-thon, followed
by Alexandria, 7, and Isabel, 7.

This past summer we road our bikes in a "bike-a-thon" that our parents organized. It was a lot of fun! And best of all, we were raising money to help the girls in Niger. All together, the thirteen of us road more than 118 miles and raised $2,000! That was enough money to send a whole herd of 30 goats to girls in Niger! Not only did the girls and their families get a goat, but thanks to the goats, the families can afford to keep sending their daughters to school.

Bethany, age 7, holds
up her lap-counter card.
The kids also wore
special t-shirts designed
for the bike-a-thon.

Riding the bikes was a lot of fun, but it was also fun to help people. My friend Alexandria said, "I can help Jesus meet a family’s needs." It makes us feel good to help Jesus. Maybe you can find some way to be like Jesus and help others too!
